How to make lanterns by hand
1 First of all, we need to prepare materials for making lanterns: paper cups, red lines, glue or double-sided tape, colored pencils or chalk and scissors. Take out a prepared paper cup, and then cut the paper cup evenly into strips with the same size along the direction from the mouth to the bottom with scissors.
2. After pruning, the vertical bars are bent inward one by one, initially showing the shape of lanterns. Then, take out another prepared paper cup and cut the mouth of the cup, leaving only the part about 2 cm at the bottom of the cup.
3. Stick the vertical bars of two paper cups one by one. After the bonding is completed, the lantern is almost shaped. You can also use your creativity and add some other decorations.
The role of lanterns
The main function of lanterns is lighting. The outer skin of lanterns is made of paper or silk, and the skeleton is usually made of bamboo or wood, with candles or light bulbs inserted in the middle, which becomes a lighting tool. It is a traditional folk handicraft that originated in China, and it is hung in modern society more than festivals such as Spring Festival and Lantern Festival, adding luster to festive days and praying for peace.
The lamps and lanterns in the Han Dynasty are relatively mature. The famous Changxin Palace Lantern in the Han Tomb in Mancheng is a kind of cylinder lantern besides the commonly used lampstand, lamp plate and cylinder lamp. The interior is hollow, clean water, smoke and all kinds of harmful gases flow into the interior of the lamp from the beautifully shaped smoke guide pipe, and then are absorbed by clean water, which is extremely beneficial to the purification of indoor air.
