Although paper-cutting is very popular all over the world, only Chinese paper-cutting was included in the American intangible cultural heritage list, and that was in 2009. [3] Chinese paper-cut is listed because it has a history of over 1500 years, and represents the cultural values of all the people in China.
Modern paper-cutting has developed into a commercial industry. Paper-cutting is still very popular in contemporary China, especially in special events such as China New Year or wedding.
