The difference between Diancui and Cloisonne

Diancui and cloisonne are both techniques used in the production of traditional Chinese handicrafts, but there are some obvious differences between them.

1. Material: the material used in the Diancui process is the feather of kingfisher, while cloisonne is based on copper tire and inlaid with various jewelry materials such as pearls, precious stones and corals.

2. Production technology: Diancui is an expensive and rare Diancui jewelry made of kingfisher feathers and gemstones, while cloisonne is made of gold and silver, painted on its surface and then fired.

3. Gloss and color: The luster and color of Diancui jewelry are provided by the natural luster and color of kingfisher feathers, so each Diancui jewelry is unique. On the other hand, cloisonne can produce various colors and luster by controlling glaze formula and firing process.

4. Application history: The production history of Diancui jewelry can be traced back to the Han Dynasty, and it is a common ornament for aristocratic women in ancient China. Cloisonne enamel craft originated in Persia, and became a precious palace handicraft after it was introduced to China.

Generally speaking, Diancui and Cloisonne are both traditional crafts in China, but they are different in material, manufacturing technology, luster and color, application history and so on.
