Chenzhou culture

Chenzhou is a multi-ethnic area. Among the 56 ethnic groups in China, there are 27 ethnic groups in Chenzhou. There are rich folk resources and unique regional characteristics here, including beautiful and moving legends, ancient and simple folk operas, and unique folk crafts, such as Nuo opera, Anren Zhuzhi, Yao Festival, wedding songs, Xianglong and Yuanxiao.

Rucheng Xianglong, which has been listed in the national intangible cultural heritage protection list of China, originated from the totem belief of celebrating harvest and praying for disaster relief. It is held ceremoniously from the first month of the Spring Festival to the evening of Lantern Festival every year, with a history of 1300 years. Concentrated expression of the people's good wishes of pursuing good weather, making the country prosperous and strong, exorcising evil spirits and eliminating disasters, and contains cultural details of respecting ancestors, seeking progress, respecting rituals and worshipping education. It is a unique folk comprehensive art activity.

Jiahe folk song is a cultural heritage created by the people of Jiahe in Chenzhou in the long-term social life practice. It combines poetry, song, dance and drama. It is not only a lyric poem that pours out women's feelings, but also a folk song and dance drama with the main content of reflecting women's marriage customs. There are 2369 folk songs, including wedding songs, love songs, labor songs, life songs and children's songs. The elaborate large-scale musical "dowry" reproduces the rural marriage customs in southern Hunan with the stage art form of sound, poetry and painting, and shows the unique charm of folk customs in our city.
