What are the musical characteristics of traditional Daur folk songs?
Most Daur folk songs have distinct and rigorous rhythms. The timbre adopts the pentatonic style of the East Asian Music Department, with occasional six-tone or four-tone scales. Palace mode is more, followed by sign and feather mode. Melody is mostly parabolic, close to Mongolian music style. However, compared with Mongolian folk songs, it lacks some enthusiasm, boldness and rough temperament, but is more subtle, fluent and lyrical.
