How many kinds of dances are there in China?
Classical folk dances in China are divided into three categories according to their origins and forms: labor production, folk customs of people's livelihood and sacrifice.
As far as cultural forms are concerned, there are: farming culture, mountain forest culture, boathouse culture, marine culture, grassland culture, oasis culture, town palace culture, Buddhism (and Taoism, religion) culture and opera culture.
Classical folk dances in China are classified according to props, and the typical ones are: dragon dance, lion dance, drum dance, lantern dance, silk dance, fan dance, whip dance, sword dance, sedan chair dance, step song, yangko dance, flower-pulling, duet singing and social fire. There are many unique dances in every kind of dance, such as stilts, bamboo horses, spring cows, donkeys and so on.
