The thought of three holes was popularized by Kang Youwei, Liang Qichao and others in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. His Confucianism in Song and Ming Dynasties was accepted by scholars Chen Yinque and Xiong Shili at that time. It spread to Mou Zongsan, a disciple of Xiong Shili, and reached a new height.
