What is a clown?

A clown is usually a comedian, dressed in colorful costumes and heavily made-up masks, who entertains the audience in a comical and hilarious way. Often seen in circuses, performances, holiday celebrations, birthday parties, and other occasions, clowns are a form of performance that is entertaining and of traditional cultural significance. In addition, clowns are also common character images in literature, movies, TV dramas and other literary works.
