Japanese Mustard Seed Puppet Dolls

Wooden wasabi, a type of doll originating from the Tohoku region of Japan, are handmade from wood and have simple limb stems and deliberately enlarged heads with a few lines used to represent the face. The body has some red and black (sometimes yellow) patterns and is covered with a layer of wax. The absence of arms and legs is a characteristic feature of the wooden wasabi dolls. At the bottom of the figure will be the signature of the sculptor.
