The origin of pineapple cake is in Taiwan Province Province.

According to legend, during the Three Kingdoms period, Liu Bei married Sun Quan's sister with a wedding cake. In the gift cake, pineapple is used as a big cake. The early pineapple gift box cake was too big for ordinary people to buy. One hundred years ago, Yan Ping, a pastry chef in Taichung County, often made "dragon and phoenix cakes" for sale. There is meat in the dragon cake and pineapple in the phoenix cake, which is necessary for marriage and engagement. Later, after Yanping was improved, pineapple cake was simplified into exquisite cakes, and pineapple cake was born.

In the wedding custom of Taiwan Province Province, the six flavors of ordering wedding cakes represent six kinds of gifts. One kind of pineapple is pronounced "Wanglai" in Minnan dialect, which symbolizes the meaning of future generations. Pineapple is also a tribute jointly offered by people in Taiwan Province Province, which means "Wanglai" and is deeply loved by the people.

Early pineapple cake was too big for ordinary people to spend. Nearly a hundred years ago, Fu Yanping, a pastry chef in Taichung County, often took the burden and brought his own "dragon and phoenix cakes" to Taichung to sell. The original "dragon cake" is a big round cake with meat stuffing, while the "phoenix cake" of the same size is filled with pineapple stuffing. Because of its auspicious meaning, "Dragon and Phoenix Cake" is considered as an essential wedding cake for engagement and marriage.

Later, after the improvement of Yan vase, the egg cake was reduced to about 25 to100g each, and pineapple cake was born.
