Master's Thesis Reference Labeling Methods
Introduction: a master's degree is a graduate degree between a bachelor's degree and a Ph.D. Those who have a master's degree usually symbolize the ability to conduct basic and independent research. The following is a complete list of reference labeling methods for master's thesis that I have compiled for you!
Master's thesis reference labeling method 1
References
Scholarly research should be precise, well-documented, candid, innovative and cumulative.
And among them, precision, evidence and accumulation need to be built on the basis of the correct treatment of previous academic achievements.
Material included in the dissertation that has been published or written by others, or used for the purpose of obtaining a degree from another educational institution, or any contributions to the study by supervisors and colleagues working with the author, should be clearly cited and described in the dissertation.
Therefore, wherever there are direct quotations of others' results (words, figures, facts, and paraphrases of others' opinions), they should be marked and listed in the references to avoid plagiarism in the dissertation, as shown in Appendix 13: Problems of Graduate School of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics on the Attention of Graduate Students to Citing References in Dissertation Writing.
Graduate students should cite references in their dissertations in accordance with the national standard "Rules for the Recording of Post-textual References" (GB7714) and the format for writing and exchanging doctoral and master's degree dissertations in China.
Marking in the text
(1) Marking format: cited references should be cited in the full text in a uniform manner, the format of the marking [serial number], placed in the quotation or paraphrase of the point of view of the last full stop before the citation of the cited document serial number with a small No. 4 Times New Roman, the above angular form placed in square brackets, such as: "...results [1]".
(2) Serial number: the labeled serial number can choose one of the following two ways: according to the first cited in the body of the order of appearance of the successive increments, or according to the first author's last name of the English alphabet or pinyin letters of the alphabetical order of the increment.
Such as a thesis in the paper in a number of references, to the first appearance of the serial number shall prevail; when a thesis at the same time cited a number of references, should be used in the format of [1, 2, ...], marked in square brackets of the serial number according to the ascending order.
(3) When a reference is mentioned as a direct statement in the text, its serial number should be aligned with the text, such as "From the literature [8, 10-14]:".
References and Format
References should be complete, complete, in the right order, and with correct punctuation.
Specific requirements are as follows:
(1) entry format: the serial number of the reference to the top left, and use the number in square brackets, such as [1], [2], ..., each reference entry does not need to be added at the end of the closing character.
The punctuation in the references is in the form of "half-width punctuation + space".
(2) order: according to the first citation in the text of the order of appearance of increasing, or according to the first author's last name of the English alphabet or pinyin letters of the English alphabet order, and the text of the instructions in the same serial number.
(3) the author's name: only three or less authors, their names are all listed, Chinese and foreign authors are all surnames before the first name, foreigners can be used to replace the name of the first letter of the first letter of capital letters, such as: William E. (first name) Johns (last name) in the bibliography should be written as Johns W.E.; there are more than three authors, only listed in the first three, and then add ", et al" or ", et al".
(4) types of references and identification: according to GB3469, all types of references should be identified after the title in square brackets with a single letter.
The types of traditional literature and identification of paper as a carrier, see Table 1.

Traditional paper-based documents do not need to indicate their carrier type when cited as a reference, while electronic documents on non-paper-based carriers need to indicate their carrier type in the reference type identifier when they are cited as a reference, see Table 3.
In this way, the type identifiers of references on non-paper-based carriers have the following format: [Electronic Document Type]. Format: [electronic document type identification / carrier type identification], such as:
[DB/OL] online online database (Database online)
[DB/MT] magnetic tape database (Database on magnetic tape)
[M/CD] CD-ROM book ( Monograph on CD-ROM)

Master's thesis reference labeling method2There are many ways to label the literature in the main text, but the most widely used in the international academic monographs and theses is the "author's year method", that is, in the quoted views, conclusions or results of the information inserted in parentheses, in parentheses, the reference to the reference in the parentheses, the reference to the author's year method.
The complete information on the references is listed in the reference list at the end of the article, and the reader is asked to mark the references according to the author's name and the year of publication in parentheses.
For example (David, 1997); Chinese literature is labeled with the author's name and year of publication in parentheses, for example (Zhang Wuchang, 2000).
When there are less than three authors, all authors are labeled; when there are more than three, only the first three authors are labeled, plus "et al" or "et al", e.g., (Sommerset, Farrel and Sommerset, Sommerset, Farrel and Sommerset, Sommerset, Farrel and Sommerset, Sommerset, Farrel and Farrel, Sommerset, Sommerset, Farrel and Farrel, Sommerset, Sommerset, Farrel and Farrel, Sommerset, Sommerset and Farrel, Sommerset and Farrel, Sommerset and Farrel. Sommerset, Farrel and Lovekin, et al, 2000).
If the same author has more than one citation from the same year, add an identifier to the bibliography and reference list, e.g. (Chapter 3, 2001a), (Chapter 3, 2001b).
If the author's name already appears in the document, it can be omitted from the parentheses, e.g., "Sommerset (2000) notes ......".
When it is necessary to indicate the specific source of the ideas, thoughts or quotations being referenced, then the number of pages is also added after the year in parentheses, e.g. (Chapter Sanfeng, 2001, pp125-132), "Andrews and Hildebrand (1982, p138) point out ... .".
Literature downloaded from the web is also labeled using the author-year method.
Literature without author and time obviously lacks the necessary reliability and authority, and cannot be used as references in academic papers.
Documents translated in Chinese are treated as Chinese documents.
Corresponding to the author-year labeling method in the main text, the references in the appendix of the paper should be listed in alphabetical order according to the last name or the hanyu pinyin of the last name, and the specific representation method is introduced in section 4.2.
Obviously, the author-year method does not need to take into account the order and number of times the literature appears, and the same literature can be cited and labeled many times in the text, while in the bibliography, it should only be listed once.
In addition, the text can also use footnotes to the paper on the terminology, formulas, background or data calculations to be explained or illustrated, on the direct quotation of the data to indicate the source of the data.
Footnotes should be numbered sequentially.
Footnotes can be numbered individually on each page or consistently in each chapter of the paper.
If each page is numbered separately, the footnotes are to be given at the bottom of the current page.
Footnotes are easy to implement with Microword's insertion feature.
Footnotes can be identified by the numbers 1, 2, etc., or the symbols ①, ②, etc., or [1], [2], etc.
Footnotes can be identified by the numbers 1, 2, etc., or the symbols ①, ②, etc., or [1], [2], etc.
Footnotes to the sources of information expressed in the same way as the references, the sources of information are mainly Chinese books, Chinese magazines, English books, English magazines, Internet sites, etc., can refer to the references in the method of expression, but the books must be labeled with the page number.
The footnotes are written in five-pointed Song font, and if there are multiple lines in the footnotes, the spacing should be smaller than that in the main text.
Since the source of data in the text is given in a footnote on the current page, and the source of data for charts and graphs is given below the charts and graphs or in a footnote on the current page, publications such as almanacs and manuals should not be used as references in general.
References are labeled in the text using the author's year method, and accordingly, they should be numbered according to the author's last name in the list of references.
Names in Chinese characters are in the order of the hanyu pinyin letters of the surname, and names in English are in the order of the letters of the surname.
The square bracketed serial numbers are prefixed only for ease of counting.
Spacers can be punctuated with "." , or the comma ",".
But in the use of foreign references, for foreign authors, the general should be the last name in front, with the English "," spacing between the last name and the first name.
But if the first name comes first, a space is used to separate the first and last names.
The year in the reference is expressed as "Year. Month. Day."
It is recommended that references should be in Chinese (5) Song font, and in English (5) Times New Roman.
It is recommended that the spacing between lines in the same document be reduced, and that the spacing between lines in different documents be increased, which is easy to do using paragraph spacing.
The types of documents that can be listed in the reference list include academic journal articles, academic conference proceedings, dissertations, academic monographs, patents, online academic papers, and so on.
The format of their entries are as follows:
(1) Academic journals: [sequential numbering] authors (3 people within the write all, more than 3 people write only 3 people and then add etc. or et al). Name of article. Name of journal, year. Volume number (issue number): start page ~ end page
(2) academic conference proceedings: [sequential numbering] authors (3 people within all write on, more than 3 people only write 3 people then add etc. or et al). My method, auxiliary software endnote, about three links:
1. Organize an independent reference folder.
a. Download all the references you use to this folder backup (in order to facilitate future inquiries)
b. Folder named "time + subject" (in order to facilitate the management of a few years and query)
c. Internal literature according to the subject, content and format (including journals, books, conferences) (to facilitate future search)
d. Always update and backup the folder (to avoid any problems later)
2. Organize the entries of library in endnote
a. Create a folder named "my library", with the name "my library".
a. Create "my library" in endnote with the name "time+topic" (for ease of management)
b. My library lists several subentries with the name "topic" (for ease of management and querying)
c. Download all the tags in "endnote" format from Baidu Scholar or Google Scholar (for later import)d. Import the tags into your my library, and assign them to each entry according to their type (for later query)
e. Refer to the downloads from the first session. The first part of the download literature, according to the content of the literature you download labeling inconsistencies (Baidu Scholarship and Google Scholar sometimes errors), common errors include: the expression of the author's name, the case of the title of the literature, the citation of the range of pages, and so on.
3. Import endnote labels into the word document
a. will be your well-organized literature labels, through the word within the endnote options, links and inserted into the body of your word;
b. According to the requirements of your dissertation or the target journals, to amend your insertion method and display format (this in the endnote, just use numbered or nature at the draft stage);
c. After the insertion is complete, check the final reference page to see if there are any errors and correct them in time.
Advantages of doing this
1. High accuracy: no mistakes, because each of your tags is checked against the original document, and there is no reason for anyone to criticize you;
2. Easy to operate: endnote's tags can be used permanently once imported;
3. Long: your library can be used for a lifetime, including the reference folder you backed up, it is very easy to query after five or six years;
4. Timely updating: endnote will automatically update your tabs at any time, and there will be no error;
5. Adjustment of convenience: you can always adjust the insertion of your literature according to the journal you target and the way to display it.
