The definition of traditional logic
Unity, traditional logic or so-called "formal logic" is also a theory to study the law of thinking from the unity of content and form, so it is by no means formal logic. Just as the traditional concept as a form of thinking confuses concept and language, the traditional logic theory as a form of thinking confuses traditional logic and linguistics. If, as Marx said, only language is the form of thinking, then only linguistics is the theory to study the form of thinking and rules (such as grammatical rules). Traditional logic is not a science of "pure thinking form" from the beginning. Aristotle, the founder of traditional logic, believes that the relationship between the subject and object of judgment reflects the objective relationship between things. Lenin said that his logic is seeking and exploring, which is close to Hegel's logic. Later, the development of traditional logic was distorted rather than formalistic. Because, according to the relationship between Engels' traditional logic and dialectical logic is a metaphor of the relationship between elementary mathematics and advanced mathematics, we can think that dialectical logic (symmetrical logic is the advanced stage of dialectical logic development) studies the laws of rational stage of human cognition, while traditional logic studies the laws of intellectual stage of human cognition. Beyond the scope of application of traditional logic, it is not surprising that traditional logic is applied to the whole process of human cognition, making it a tool of sophistry and falling into paradox. Hegel thinks that traditional logic can be a sophistry tool because Hegel confuses traditional logic with metaphysics, thus absolutizing the limitations of traditional logic. But just as it goes beyond the application scope of truth, turning truth into falsehood does not mean that truth itself is falsehood, it goes beyond the application scope of traditional logic, and turning traditional logic into a tool of sophistry does not mean that traditional logic itself is a purely formal thing.
