What is the origin of toothbrush?
The toothbrush is a necessity in our daily life nowadays. In ancient times, people have used the practice of brushing their teeth by rubbing them with tender twigs or small pieces of wood. Around 1600 BC, toothbrushes with brown bristles appeared in India and Africa.
The earliest toothbrushes originated in China. According to the American Dental Association, China's Ming Xiaozong also had a toothbrush made of pig bristles.
The traditional Western method of cleaning teeth, which involves rubbing and brushing them with a piece of rag, has existed since at least ancient Roman times.
The toothbrushes we use today on a daily basis are those with bristles made from nylon yarn, introduced by DuPont Chemical in 1938.
