Summer is coming, which is a busy time for some beekeepers. Because the weather temperature is getting higher and higher, the relatively closed hive is like an oven. If bees expect high temperature, they will get sick and even flee in groups. For us Chinese bees, if the living environment is not good, Chinese bees are particularly easy to escape. Every summer, my bees fly away, mainly because it is too hot here. Although the Chinese beehive is placed on the wall, the high temperature of 38-39 degrees Celsius in summer is really hot. This kind of cloth can block the light.

The cover cloth can effectively prevent the light from the vent of the beehive cover from entering the interior of the beehive. If there is no shelter to block the light, the whole bee colony will be seriously disturbed. Bees will think that the place where there is light in the vent is the nest door, and then they will keep going in and out of the vent. This cloth can prevent pests from entering the hive. If there are no barriers, many pests will enter the hive through the vents on the side of the hive cover. Cover the honeycomb with plastic film. We also use this method, but we use plastic film to keep the hive warm in winter.

Because my beehive is old, many places are ventilated, so in winter, I enclose the beehive with a large plastic film, leaving an exit side under it. In fact, this method is not very good either. Although insulated, it is airtight. Therefore, don't cover the hive with plastic film in summer. I found that many bee friends still use plastic film instead of cloth in their hives in summer. We can't say that plastic film is not good, but we should pay attention to the ventilation of beehives in summer.

Plastic film is a kind of closed material, which is not conducive to the ventilation of beehives. The long-term sultry hive increases the heat dissipation workload of worker bees, and high temperature will affect the spawning ability of queen bees. Are these all causes of urticaria in summer? Summer decline? Reason. When bees are breeding and developing, bees begin to breed in early spring. At this time, using plastic film instead of cloth can reduce the heat loss in the hive. Adjusting the spacing of partitions and narrowing the wall of beehives are beneficial to the low-temperature reproduction of bees.
