The Custom and Culture of Maying Town

Ma Yingren has always regarded knowledge and understanding as the criterion of their daily life, especially at wedding banquets and funerals, and inherited the excellent etiquette education in China traditional culture. There are many kinds of wedding banquets, including "seventeen pieces", "thirteen flowers", "perfection", "nine prizes" and "five flowers with rice". The "Seventeen Pieces" consists of nine water dishes, eight dishes, eight bowls and a pot. Thirteen Flowers consists of eight dishes, four bowls and a pot. "Jiukui" consists of eight dishes, five dishes, four bowls or four bowls and one pot.

Funeral is generally called "white matter" in Maying dialect. Tongwei implements wooden coffin burial. Funeral includes making old clothes and bedding for the deceased ("dispelling cold"), making coffins and holding funeral ceremonies.
