The capacity of the fire pool should meet the total demand of indoor and outdoor fire water during the fire. This paper will introduce the planning and design of fire pool from the aspects of capacity, replenishment time, water intake and fire lane.

Capacity of fire pool

The minimum capacity of each fire pool should not be less than 3Om3. When the capacity of each fire pool exceeds 1O00m3, it shall be divided into two parts.

Supplementary time

The replenishment time of fire pool (from no water to full water) should not exceed 48 hours, but it can be extended to 96 hours in water-deficient areas.

Setting of water inlet

The fire pool for fire engines to take water should be provided with a water intake, and the distance between the water intake and the building (except the water pump room) should not be less than15m; ; The distance from the liquid storage tanks of Class A, B and C shall not be less than 4Om；; The distance from the liquefied petroleum gas storage tank should not be less than 60m. When equipped with protective facilities to prevent thermal radiation, it can be reduced to 6Om.

Water absorption height of fire truck

The fire pool of the water supply fire truck shall ensure that the water absorption height of the fire truck does not exceed 6m.

Setting of fire lane

Fire lanes should be set around the fire pool so that fire engines can take water from the fire pool to put out the fire.

Technical measures for fire water use

In the pool where fire water is combined with production and domestic water, there should be technical measures to ensure that fire water is not used for other purposes.

Anti-freezing measures in cold areas

Fire pools in cold areas should have anti-freezing measures.
