1. First, be familiar with the functions of the changeover switch, button and jack, and check the dial symbols.

2. Understand the measured electric quantity corresponding to each scale line on the dial.

3. Check whether the positions of the red and black probes are correct. Insert the red probe into the "+"jack and the black probe into the "-"jack.

4. Some multimeters have another AC /DC 2500V high voltage measuring terminal. When measuring high voltage, the black stylus does not move, and the red stylus is inserted into the high voltage socket.

5. Mechanical zero adjustment: Turn the mechanical zero adjustment screw on the multimeter panel to make the pointer aim at the "0" position at the left end of the dial.
