What traditional dances are there in rural Yunnan?
Yao Claw Dance is a unique sacrificial dance for Yao people in Gongcheng, Guangxi. It shows the ancient production and life style of Yao ancestors. It has rich original flavor and unique national characteristics. When People's Republic of China (PRC) moved from Hunan to Guangxi, it was Yao who entered Gongcheng, Guangxi.
In Gongcheng Yao Autonomous County, Guilin, every major festival or celebration, local Yao compatriots have the custom of dancing croissants. The props of this dance are very special, that is, hunting tools and prey.
The dance they danced was called Wang Pan Yang Jiao Dance. At first, the dances used included dog heads, long waist drums and horns, as well as hunting tools such as broadswords, forks and axes. Dog heads and long waist drums are hard to find now, but this does not affect their interest in dancing.
When talking about the origin of Wang Pan Claw Dance, the villagers said that it was said that a long time ago, the dog king was killed by a goat. The dog king's wife and seven children, Qi Xin, worked together to catch the goat and peel off the goatskin to make drums. On festivals, they will beat drums and dance to offer sacrifices to their ancestors.
