What is the terminal? What's the role?

A terminal is a combination of input and output devices without a host.

For example, the cash register in the supermarket and the front desk in the bank all belong to special terminals, called terminals. There are two operating systems, windows series and unix series, which are mainly decided by the host. In the market, supermarkets use Lenovo or Shida as terminal products, and banks use Shida more.

Non-terminal can also be used as a terminal to connect to the host remotely or through dial-up, and only provide input and output without using its own system. For example, personal computer pc uses windows HyperTerminal to connect proprietary unix-like systems, such as switches, firewalls and routers, or uses remote desktop to connect windows2000server, 2003server or xp systems.
