When is the New Year?

The New Year begins on the last day of the lunar month, and is generally considered to last until the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar year, but there is also the saying that the New Year is the year before the first month of the lunar year.

New Year's Eve is the "New Year Festival", now known as the "Spring Festival". The main content of the Spring Festival is to get rid of the old and bring in the new, pay homage to the gods and ancestors, drive away evil spirits and disasters, and pray for the New Year, which is colorful, lively and festive, with a strong taste of the New Year, and cohesive with the traditional cultural essence of Chinese civilization.

According to the old custom, from the end of the year, December 23/24 of the sacrificial stove day (dust sweeping day), until the first month of the 15th night of the Lantern Festival or the first month of the 19th, nearly a month is called "New Year's Eve", that is, what is now known as the "Spring Festival period"; If you start counting from the preparation of the "New Year's goods", from the end of the year, December 15 or 16 will enter the New Year's busy.
