The traditional "house" is the basic unit of Guitang-style residential single building in Sishui, with an odd number of rooms, usually three or five. Each room is 3-4m wide, with five to nine purlins, each purlin1~1.5m.. Each building is connected by a corridor and connected with the courtyard wall.

Most houses in the south of the Yangtze River use cross-legged wooden frames instead of beams, and columns directly support purlins. The outer wall adopts thin bucket wall or bamboo plastering wall, and the wall is painted white. The roof structure is also thinner than the houses in the north. Zhouzhuang's residential town Zhouzhuang is Zeguo, a street formed by a river, showing a simple, clean and quiet style. It is a typical "small bridge and flowing water family" in Jiangnan. Although it has experienced more than 900 years of vicissitudes, it still completely retains the original style and pattern of the ancient water town. The most famous scenic spots in Zhouzhuang are Fuan Bridge, Shuangqiao and Shenting. Fuan Bridge is the only three-dimensional bridge building in the south of the Yangtze River. Shuangqiao is formed by connecting two bridges, with unique shape; Shenting is a quadrangle with A Qing style, with rigorous overall structure and different local styles.
