What does the epidemiological case study include?
First, the origin of epidemiology:
Epidemiology, also known as medicine and health science, is a science that studies the distribution and determinants of diseases and health status in a specific population, and studies the strategies and measures to prevent and control diseases and promote health. It is an important part and foundation of preventive medicine. Epidemiology is developed in the constant struggle against serious diseases that endanger human health. In the early years, infectious diseases spread widely among people, which brought great disasters to mankind. People have made an in-depth epidemiological investigation of infectious diseases and taken preventive measures.
Second, the epidemiological characteristics:
(1) population characteristics. Epidemiology is concerned with the health status of the population in a country or region, and it is often concerned with the majority of the population, not just the incidence of individuals.
(2) Based on the distribution characteristics. Epidemiology takes the distribution of diseases as the starting point of understanding diseases, that is, by collecting, sorting out and investigating the distribution characteristics of diseases in time, space and population, it reveals the law of disease occurrence and development and provides clues for further research.
(3) Comparison of characteristics. The idea of comparison runs through the whole process of epidemiological research, and comparison is the core of epidemiological research methods. Only through comparative investigation and analysis can we find the cause or clue of the disease.
Epidemiology is the collection and arrangement of science and medical education network, which studies the distribution law and influencing factors of diseases in order to explore the causes, clarify the epidemic law and formulate countermeasures and measures to prevent, control and eliminate diseases. This is an important subject of preventive medicine. This research method is not only suitable for the study of diseases, but also suitable for the study of the influence of various harmful factors such as environmental hygiene, labor hygiene and food hygiene on human health in preventive medicine. At the same time, epidemiological analysis methods are often used in clinical work and efficacy evaluation to explore and solve existing problems. Therefore, epidemiology, also known as methodology, is the necessary preventive medicine knowledge for grassroots health workers and rural doctors to engage in prevention and treatment work.
