Jiuquan Park is located 1.9 kilometers east of Gulou, covers an area of 270,000 square meters, is the only well-preserved a Han-style gardens in the Hexi Corridor, so far, there has been a history of more than 2,000 years. Legend has it that in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the city of Jiuquan was often flooded and was said to be haunted by demons, so people built a temple in the northwest and southwest corners of the Bell and Drum Towers to keep the evil spirits at bay. Because the two temples and the Bell and Drum Tower form the shape of a bull's head, so people also call Jiuquan City "Crouching Bull City".
