Origin of the name Shanghai Xujiahui
Shanghai Xujiahui was originally named Fahua Hui, which was changed because of Xu Guangqi.
More than 400 years ago, the Xujiahui district of Shanghai had no skyscrapers, much less a city, and was surrounded by farmland full of crops. At that time, Xujiahui was also not called Xujiahui, but Fahua Hui, which was later renamed Xujiahui in honor of a great scientist.
Xu Guangqi (徐光啟), a native of Shanghai County, Songjiang Prefecture, Southern Zhili Province of the Ming Dynasty, was a Chinese scholar in the late Ming Dynasty in the fields of Confucianism, Western studies, celestial studies (Catholic theology), astronomy, mathematics, hydrology, agronomy, and military science, and was a thinker, statesman, and militarist.
Xu Guangqi lived and worked in Shanghai, and in the area of the present Hongqiao Road, Puhuitang Road, Zhaojiabang Road, Huashan Road convergence also specializes in the construction of farms, engaged in agricultural science experiments and books, and since then his descendants have long been gathered in the vicinity of this area, so there is a today's Shanghai, "Xujiahui" the origin of the name of the place.
Location
Xujiahui is located in the southwestern part of Shanghai's downtown area, close to Shanghai Jiaotong University and the Xuhui District Government, and is one of Shanghai's ten most prestigious commercial centers, which is a comprehensive commercial area integrating shopping, entertainment, office, commerce, leisure, accommodation, catering and training and education.
Broadly speaking, Xujiahui Business District mainly refers to the area from Zhaojiabang Road and Dong'an Road in the east to West Zhongshan Road and Yishan Road in the west. The public **** area is bordered by West Zhongshan Road in the south and Guangyuan Road in the north. Xujiahui has gathered Shanghai Railway Line 1, Line 9, Line 11 and dozens of bus lines such as: Xuming Line, 816 Road, 958 Road, 178 Road bus stops, 956 Road and so on.
