Cheongsam English
Cheongsam, also known as robe, is the traditional dress of women in China and even in China, and is regarded as the quintessence of China and the national costume of women. Cheongsam was formed in the 1920s. Some scholars believe that its origin can be traced back to the deep clothes in the pre-Qin and Han dynasties. Although there are many controversies about its definition and time, it is still one of the most splendid phenomena and forms in China's long-standing costume culture.
Cheongsam became the most common women's dress after the 1920s. In the Republic of China 18 (1929), the government of the Republic of China promulgated the Clothing Regulations, which defined the traditional women's tunic skirts and cheongsam in China as women's dresses.
After 1950s, cheongsam was gradually neglected, especially during the Cultural Revolution, which was criticized as "feudal dross" and "bourgeois sentiment". After 1980s, with the re-emphasis of traditional culture and the influence of film and television culture, fashion shows and beauty contests, cheongsam not only gradually revived in Chinese mainland, but also spread all over the world.
Style origin
The first one, represented by Mr. Zhou Xibao's History of Ancient Chinese Costume, thinks that cheongsam is directly developed from the robes of flag girls in Qing Dynasty. However, some scholars believe that although the cheongsam of the Republic of China has a form similar to the flag gown, it no longer has the meaning of the flag gown. It is biased to think that the cheongsam in the Republic of China was directly developed from the flag gown.
The second one, represented by Professor Fennie Yuen's China Cheongsam, Professor Bao Mingxin's China Cheongsam and China Modern Women's Clothing Annals, thinks that cheongsam and cheongsam have a certain inheritance relationship, but at the same time thinks that the origin of cheongsam should be the fine linen of the Western Zhou Dynasty or the deep clothes of the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties.
