The concept of group dance for young children

The group dance of young children refers to a musical work as a unit, based on the feeling and physical performance of the musical work, and finally towards a rhythmic performance with partners and formations, which is accomplished collectively.

That is to say, in the group dance of young children, there is not too much challenge and requirement for movement learning, but more is to provide young children with the opportunity to communicate with their peers in a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere, and to learn a variety of ways of communicating with their peers, such as language, body, eyes, etc., so as to improve young children's social interaction ability.

What formations are included in a group dance for young children?

So how should the children be arranged in a group dance for toddlers? What are the different formations that children can stand in?

Inline dance

This refers to a group dance in which two or more inline formations are the basic formation. Dancers in an in-line formation may face forward or face their partners, two by two.

When the children stand in straight formation, most of the children's attention is easy to focus, in this formation, the teacher is most commonly used to stand in front of the formation and face to face with the children, to do the mirror demonstration. Of course, depending on the direction of the movement, the teacher can stand in front of, behind and to the left or right of the formation at any point.

Circle Dance

This is a group dance in which all the children form a circle and use the circle as the basic formation. All the children can dance in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction, marching and dancing; they can face towards the center of the circle or outside the circle.

When the children stand in a single circle, the attention of all the children is most likely to be focused, so the teacher can stand on the circle to demonstrate the same as the children, so that all the children can see the teacher's movement and posture.

The Double Circle Dance

This is a group dance in which all the children form two circles, with the double circle as the basic formation. If the inner circle and the outer circle form a partnership and have echoing movements, then the inner circle and the outer circle are required to be equal in number; if the inner circle and the outer circle do not form a partnership, then the number of people in the inner circle and the outer circle can be arbitrary.

When the children stand in a double-circle formation, the children's attention is also easier to focus, so the teacher usually stands on the inner circle demonstration is more reasonable, easy to all the children can see.
