The meaning of TCM

2. Drugs collected, processed and prepared under the guidance of Chinese traditional medical theory, which explain the mechanism of action and guide clinical application are collectively referred to as traditional Chinese medicine.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) refers to the medicine that expresses the performance, efficacy and usage law of the medicine with the theoretical system of TCM and is applied under the guidance of TCM theory.

The Measures for the Administration of Drug Registration stipulates: "Traditional Chinese medicine refers to medicinal substances and their preparations used under the guidance of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine".

Application under the guidance of TCM syndrome differentiation theory is the most essential feature of TCM.

Traditional Chinese medicine is not a pure natural medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine has its own complete scientific theoretical system and practice, which is different from the general concept of natural medicine. The so-called natural medicine refers to plants, animals or minerals with certain pharmacological activities in nature. Broadly speaking, Chinese medicine also belongs to the category of natural medicine.
