Want to know what shuttlecock is?
Shuttlecock, called "Shuttlecock" in daily life, is a simple fitness exercise and a traditional folk sport.
There are two main types of shuttlecock, the first is our common traditional shuttlecock. Generally, the height of shuttlecock is about 12 cm. The shuttlecock body is made of turkey feathers or carved feathers, and the plastic sheet is used as the base. The second type is the big shuttlecock, the shuttlecock body is mostly goose feather and rubber base, and the height is about 17- 18 cm. The design of shuttlecock competition includes "badminton court, volleyball rules, football action" and isolation belt similar to volleyball net.
Historical origin
According to historical documents and unearthed cultural relics, kicking shuttlecock originated in Han Dynasty in China and prevailed in Six Dynasties, Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty. In the book The Origin of Things in Song Dynasty, Gao Cheng recorded shuttlecock kicking in detail: "Nowadays, children use lead and tin as money to dress chicken feathers, which are called shuttlecocks, in groups of three or five, which are various, including being cheap inside and outside, dragging and grabbing, bending their knees, protruding their stomachs and beads."
During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, shuttlecock kicking developed further, and there were more and more records about shuttlecock kicking. For example, Dong Liu, a scholar in the Ming Dynasty and a famous essayist in the history of China, wrote in "A Brief View of the Imperial Capital": "The willow is green and empty, and the willow kicks the shuttlecock and dies."
