The popular red brick is economical and convenient. Why is it banned now? Can you talk about it?

Since 1980s, cheap red brick has been all the rage, and it is the most commonly used building material for rural self-built houses. However, in 1997, the state gradually restricted the construction of red brick houses. In 2005, the sale of red bricks was banned. Why does the country prohibit the use of this traditional red brick? Is there any reason behind this?

Red bricks are also called clay bricks. The main production material is clay. Before production, clay should be dug out of the ground and sent to a blender to be fully mixed with hydrated woolen cloth. Pour the stirred mixture into a brick mold and squeeze it by hand to make a mud film. After natural drying, it will be sent to a brick kiln with a high temperature of 900 degrees, and the fired brick will react with oxygen during natural cooling to generate red iron oxide, which is also the reason why the brick will appear red. The red brick after firing is very hard, has certain heat preservation ability, and is cheap. Around 2000, the price of red bricks was probably from 0.2 yuan to 0.3 yuan. According to the requirement of 40,000 yuan for three tile houses, the cost of buying bricks probably does not exceed12,000 yuan. Speaking of which, some people have doubts. Since red bricks are cheap and caring, why should the state ban them?

There are three main reasons why red bricks are banned.

One is to pollute the environment. Brick kilns in rural areas are mostly adobe kilns, and there are no corresponding environmental protection measures. They use coal as their main fuel, which will produce a lot of black smoke when burning. Carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide in black smoke will be directly discharged into the air, causing serious air pollution, and the wastewater produced in the production process will also do harm to the growth of crops and people's health.

The second is to destroy land resources. Around 2004, China's clay bricks still dominated, producing more than 60 million pieces of clay bricks every year, consuming 65.438+0.3 billion cubic meters of clay resources and destroying 6.5438+10 million mu of clay. The more fertile the brick, the better the cohesiveness of the sintered brick. Many special exhibitions will go directly to farmland in order to obtain cheap and good raw materials. Wow, this has led to the destruction of a large area of cultivated land resources.

Third, the waste of coal resources. More than 70 million tons of coal are used to burn bricks every year. However, there are not many easy-to-mine coal resources in the shallow part of China, and their geographical distribution is extremely uneven. We can't afford the energy consumption caused by burning a lot of bricks. Therefore, in 20 15, the national development and reform commission and the Ministry of construction jointly issued a red brick ban, demanding that the use of red bricks be abolished and replaced with new materials within three to five years.
