Ways of reading promotion in rural schools

Rural primary schools, in the torrent of social development, are mostly faced with the loss of students and the shortage of teachers, and a large part of them are dying out. Under difficulties and crises, there are also many opportunities, and reading promotion is undoubtedly the most correct way to solve the dilemma.

Promoting reading in rural schools, combined with my work experience in recent 10 years, summed up the following four points for reference:

First, create a rich academic atmosphere.

Creating a reading environment on campus will exert a subtle influence on children. If there are books everywhere on campus, children will develop good reading habits in silence.

First, build a school library.

The construction of school library is the first condition to promote reading. Rural primary schools can obtain books in three ways: distribution by the education department, self-purchase and application to reading public welfare organizations. Guixin Foundation, Action and other non-profit organizations have books available for application.

The location of the school library is also very important. Choosing a place where children often pass by will improve the utilization rate. The layout of the library should be combined with the physical and mental characteristics of primary school students, full of childlike interest and specially built for children.

In the operation of the library, teachers who are responsible and like reading can be arranged as librarians. Formulate management system and train student librarians to assist teachers in managing the library.

Secondly, create a class book corner.

Some people say, "If you want children to love reading, put books where they can get them at hand." The construction of class book corner is particularly important.

In order to arouse children's enthusiasm, when I set up the class book corner, I let the children participate in the whole process, from the selection and installation of bookshelves to the environmental layout of the book corner, and finally to the determination of the name of the book corner. I still remember that when the bookcase was just bought back, it was assembled by senior students on campus, and junior students stood in a circle and watched it, clapping and cheering from time to time.

When the book corner is named, after everyone's voting and screening, names full of personality and childlike interest, such as "scholarly house", "happy garden" and "little black fish", have become the names of various book corners.

If the class library corner highlights the source, you can borrow part from the library and students donate another part. With high-quality books, it is very convenient for students to borrow, and the reading atmosphere in the class is stronger, which also brings up students' reading enthusiasm.

Third, create open campus books.

Open books can be set up in the stairwell and corridor of the school teaching building. The completion of these book bars provides a comfortable and free reading space for children. During recess, before and after meals, there are often children standing, sitting and lying reading in the book bar.

In the open book bar, try to put some brochures of newly bought books or new books, and also show children's excellent works.

Fourth, decorate the campus reading environment.

You can set up reading slogans in a conspicuous position on campus and use the big screen of the school to push reading quotes. These propaganda contents let teachers and students start their reading life as soon as they step into the campus.

Campus publicity column can set up a good book recommendation column; In the green belt of the campus, you can also install book slogans; Children's book review cards, handwritten newspapers, reading points cards and so on are displayed in the corridor outside the class.

The layout of campus reading environment should give full play to students' main role, brainstorm and actively innovate. Let every wall speak and create a world with a sense of life for children.

Second, cultivate teachers' reading habits.

To build a scholarly campus, the first condition is to have a teacher who loves reading and a principal who loves reading. Teaching by example is more important than teaching by example. Teachers and principals who love reading are role models for students. If you want students to study, you must first make teachers fall in love with reading. If teachers don't read enough, they can't guide students to read well, let alone continue to promote reading.

Teachers' reading should start with parent-child reading. I gave them a suggestion, first find a picture book and tell it to the children at night, so that the children can fall in love with reading first. Slowly, the teachers took action. Miss Bai reads to her daughter at night, and day after day, her daughter falls in love with reading. She was the only one who scored 92 points in the final exam, which showed me the power of reading. Other teachers in the school saw the effect of reading and joined the ranks, telling the children to read with them. Seeing the children's progress, I have thought: If I accompany the children in my class to study, will they make progress? Children fall in love with reading, will I save more effort in Chinese class? Is it helpful for children to fall in love with reading? What about class management? With these questions, they began to try. The result was quite satisfactory, so more people joined in.

Secondly, we should hold a good reading exchange meeting for teachers. Teachers' reading exchange meeting is an important way to promote teachers' reading, an important platform for teachers' growth, and an important carrier for group growth and building a scholarly campus. After the teacher studies, the communication meeting is the best way to output. When several people share and communicate in a relaxed environment, they not only feel the power of companionship, but also learn from each other and learn from each other.

Third, the reward mechanism should keep up. Selecting monthly and annual scholarly teachers is an affirmation and encouragement to teachers' learning. You can also use the weekly meeting time to let teachers do simple sharing.

Third, plan and promote reading activities.

Colorful reading activities can promote children's reading habits.

In rural schools, various forms of reading activities can be held in combination with the actual situation of the school, such as story telling, essay writing, handwritten newspapers, speeches, readings, etc. These activities have built a platform for students to display and also made the books they read productive. The summary and commendation after the activity can better arouse students' enthusiasm.

Schools can also hold large-span reading activities. In the first half of the year, a one-month reading exhibition can be designed according to World Reading Day. For example, this year, drama can be the theme, so that students can read books first, then choose scripts, arrange and rehearse themselves, and then perform before the end of the month. Next year, we can take "calligraphy" as the theme, read books and consult materials first, and then start designing handwritten books, focusing on display, summary and commendation. A month's series of reading activities can better show students' talents, let them use their brains and hands to maximize the reading effect.

Schools should also select "reading stars" and "scholarly families" for students who love reading for one semester and one academic year to set an example. Driven by the role models around us, the reading atmosphere is easier to form.

If school conditions permit, it will be better to offer reading classes. With the guidance of curriculum and the intervention of school administration, the road of reading promotion will be smoother.

Fourth, parent-child reading helps to travel far.
