The Height of the New Museum of Guangdong Province

Guangdong Provincial Museum is one of the landmark cultural projects in Guangdong Province. With a total land area of 41,000 square meters and a building area of 66,900 square meters, it has 5 floors above ground and 1 floor underground, with a total building height of 43 meters.

The shape of the new museum is like a carved through the treasure box, the design concept originated from the traditional crafts of Guangdong - ivory ball, the spatial organization of the museum is like the ivory ball hollowing out the craft, the internal function of the layers of interlocking, the exhibition halls, corridors, atriums and the overall structure of the tightly integrated from the inside out layer by layer to unfold the use of real and virtual changes in the partition to attract the audience layer by layer and into the natural flow of functions, and the functional flow of the natural generation. The museum building is a natural flow of functions, which makes the form and function form a unified organic whole. The exterior wall of the museum building is made of brushed and perforated metal sheets, combined with glass and veneer screens, using the black and gray color of the metal to contrast with the red color of the inner recesses, revealing the Chinese characteristics. The staggering of the concave and convex parts of the fa?ade, combined with the lighting, allows for the expression of the openwork style of the ivory carvings. In terms of structural design, the steel trusses are adopted as a novel structural system, which is the largest span suspension structure in the world.
