What's the difference between political economics and economics?
In political science, the definition of political economy is not clear, which usually refers to the study of political processes related to economic decision-making, such as how a law is promulgated, labor disputes, the relationship between economic development and power, and so on. In economics, political economy has a profound tradition. A friend mentioned that economics was called political economy in classical times, and now one of the most famous magazines in economics is called Journal of Political Economy. But for the students of economics department now, political economy in a narrow sense is a relatively small branch discipline, which refers to the application of general economic methods (rational choice plus positivism) to the study of issues related to government and power. In order to distinguish it from political economics in political science, this sub-discipline is sometimes called political economics.
