Glass leaf cake
The so-called glass leaves are actually oak leaves. Put the batter on the oak leaves, put the stuffing on it, and then steam it together, which is the glass leaf cake (called "sticky mouse" in some places). The reason why it is called glass leaf cake, as the name implies, is because its shape and color are as crystal clear as glass.
In some areas of northeast China, there is a folk saying that people eat glass leaf cakes on June 6th. In the past, the flour used to make glass leaf cakes was milled corn (corn) flour or sorghum rice noodles, which needed to be covered with a screen, dried with grass ash and then blanched with boiling water. When cooking, add some starch to the flour to make the glass leaf cake crystal clear and more beautiful and delicious. Flour can also choose white flour. The customs in different parts of Northeast China are also different. Some places use glass leaves to stick mice, glutinous rice flour to make skins, and red bean paste to make stuffing.
