What is Ethernet and what is it used for?

Ethernet is a low-layer network protocol that usually operates at the physical layer and data link layer of the OSI model. It is the most common bus-type protocol and is a coaxial cable system with a data rate of 10Mbps (megabits per second). This system is relatively cheap and easy to install. It directly uses the BNC-T connector on each workstation's network card to connect cables from one workstation to another to complete network transmission control tasks.
