Intensive agriculture and extensive agriculture
concept
Extensive economic's growth mode refers to increasing output mainly by increasing the input of production factors, that is, increasing investment, expanding factory buildings and increasing labor input. This kind of economic growth mode is also called extensional growth mode. Its basic feature is to expand the scale of production and realize economic growth by increasing the input of production factors.
To achieve economic growth in this way, the consumption is high, the cost is high, the product quality is difficult to improve, and the economic benefit is low.
Extensive economic is opposite to intensive economy. Intensive economic growth mode refers to increasing output by adopting new technologies and new processes, improving machinery and equipment and increasing scientific and technological content on the basis of unchanged production scale. This economic growth mode is also called connotative growth mode. Its basic feature is to achieve economic growth by improving the quality and utilization efficiency of production factors. In this way, economic growth is realized, with lower consumption and cost, continuous improvement of product quality and higher economic benefits.
In contemporary times, intensive economy is advocated. For example, the development direction of animal husbandry in Northeast China is to develop intensification.
Main form
In modern times, extensive economic has two main forms: one is migrant agriculture, and the other is nomadic industry. Migrant agriculture is mainly distributed in forests and other places. For example, in the Amazon rainforest, indigenous people have this economic form; Of course, nomadic owners should be distributed in grasslands and other places, such as parts of China and Tibet.
Extensive economic growth model
Its basic feature is to expand the scale of production and realize economic growth by increasing the input of production factors (for agriculture, it is simply to expand the cultivated land area). To achieve economic growth in this way, the consumption is high, the cost is high, the product quality is difficult to improve, and the economic benefit is low.

Extensive type is opposite to intensive type.
Two explanations of intensive agriculture;
1, intensive agriculture
World agriculture has experienced three stages: primitive agriculture, traditional agriculture and modern agriculture, developed into knowledge agriculture and realized agricultural modernization. Now China agriculture is in the transition period from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture, that is, the transition period of agricultural growth mode. The important way to realize this change is to develop intensive agriculture and agricultural industrialization. Traditional agriculture is basically extensive agriculture, which is a mode of production of "people+land". In some mountainous areas, slash-and-burn and manual ploughing still exist, which is simply primitive agriculture. Extensive agriculture mainly depends on the increase of input of production factors such as land, labor, agricultural materials and water resources, which is the expansion of extended input. It is land-intensive and labor-intensive agriculture, and it can also be said to be entity agriculture. Often engage in short-term or even predatory production and management, and pursue the expansion of area, the increase of total output and the improvement of output value. The production and sales of agricultural products are subject to great natural risks and market risks, which largely depend on the weather. Compared with extensive agriculture, intensive agriculture can also be said to be precision agriculture, but it is not intensive farming in the traditional sense. The most fundamental difference lies in scientific and technological progress, which mainly depends on the improvement of agricultural scientific and technological content and added value, the increase of internal investment, the pursuit of technology-intensive agriculture, knowledge-based agriculture and sustainable development agriculture, the pursuit of land output rate, labor productivity and return on capital, and the pursuit of quality, market value and economic benefits of agricultural products.
In recent years, an important reason for the slow growth of farmers' income is the increasing production cost caused by extensive agriculture. In the future, we should take the road of intensive agricultural development relying on science and technology, saving costs and increasing efficiency.
2. Intensive cultivation
Intensive agriculture is a management mode of agriculture. It is an agriculture that concentrates a certain amount of labor and means of production on less land and uses intensive management for production. Corresponding to extensive agriculture, agriculture (such as intensive agriculture developed in southern China) that invests more means of production and labor on a certain area of land and applies advanced agricultural technology to increase the output of agricultural products is called "intensive agriculture".
The purpose of intensive management is to obtain more agricultural products from the unit area of land and continuously improve the soil.
