What are the world's major volleyball tournaments

The largest and most important are the traditional three world competitions held every four years, i.e. the World Championships, the World Cup and the Olympic Volleyball Tournament. The World Championship is an international volleyball tournament organized by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), which is the earliest and largest world tournament of volleyball and is held once every four years. Since 1962, it has been held in the 2nd year after the Olympic Games. The predecessor of the World Cup Volleyball Tournament was the "Three Continents" Volleyball Tournament, i.e. Asia, Europe and the U.S.A. In 1964, FIVB renamed it the "World Cup" Volleyball Tournament and decided to hold the first Men's World Cup Volleyball Tournament in September 1965 in Poland. The World Cup is an international volleyball tournament in which high-level men's and women's teams from all over the world participate. The top three teams qualify for the Olympic Games. 1964 was the first year that volleyball was included in the Olympic Games, the highest level of volleyball competition. The teams eligible to participate are: the champion team of each continent, the representative team of the host country, the top three teams of the previous World Cup, the three teams resulting from the qualifiers under the direct jurisdiction of the FIVB, etc.*** 12 teams. In other words, the only true world champions are those who win the traditional three tournaments.

The other big tournaments in the world are the World Grand Champions Cup, held in the first year after the Olympics, and the World Women's Volleyball Grand Prix, which is held annually.

While the Montreux Women's Volleyball Classic in Switzerland, the President's Cup in Russia, and the Four Nations Tournament in China are A-level tournaments registered with the FIVB, they are not organized by the FIVB, and the results achieved do not count towards the world ranking points.
