From what level can we understand the effect of network communication?

Two levels. One is the agenda setting initiated by the network, and the other is the enlargement or weakening of the traditional media agenda setting by the network.

The communication structure of the network can make some information spread, multiply and spread quickly like computer viruses. Agenda-setting hypothesis holds that people's attention to certain topics mainly comes from the frequency and intensity of these topics being reported, and network communication can easily improve the frequency and intensity of reporting on certain events.

In the network, mass communication, group communication, organizational communication and interpersonal communication work together. On the agenda setting, group communication and interpersonal communication are powerful supplements to mass communication.

With the emergence and continuous penetration of the Internet, the characteristics of network communication and the resulting impact on the traditional media structure have also challenged this theory. The communication characteristics of network communication itself make the audience have the characteristics of individuality, virtuality, autonomy, participation and anonymity, which complicates the relatively clear "opinion climate" in the past.
