Is everyone happy for the New Year? Why do you want to celebrate the New Year?
This is the custom of China people.
How did the custom of Chinese New Year first come down? Many beautiful festivals have a frightening beginning, and so does the Chinese New Year. When the ancestors first celebrated the New Year, they were forced to choose.
According to legend, in ancient times, there was a wild animal that haunted at the end of the year. It has a horn like a horn on its head. People call it the year. This monster named "Nian" is very ferocious. At the end of each year, it will go to the village to kill livestock and even eat people. Everyone can only tremble in the room, thinking that this day and night will soon pass. In this way, everyone will suffer heavy losses at the end of each year, and it is not the way to last for a long time. As soon as the villagers discuss it, since they can't beat it, respect it.
So when the end of the second year came, everyone prepared all kinds of livestock meat at the entrance of the village very early, hoping to leave after eating enough without hurting people. However, in the year of ingratitude, I ate all the pigs, beef and mutton that the farmers had worked hard to feed for a year, and only a few people left after eating them. The people in the village were surprised and angry, knowing that blind obedience was not enough. We must find a way to protect ourselves.
What is the difference between humans and animals? There is a clear answer in the book. People will use their brains to make tools. So the villagers who were cornered began to think of various ways to protect their rights. At the end of another year, they hid their livestock and lit a bonfire outside the village, hoping to stop Nian. Of course, this is only the first step. Soon, nian appeared.
It saw a big fireball at the entrance of the village and paused, thinking about whether to move forward. Just as it hesitated, everyone took out the simple firecrackers that had been prepared long ago and threw them at the New Year. For a time, the whole earth and sky crackled and lit up the night sky with fireworks. Frightened, I don't know what heavy weapon it is, so I turned and ran to the mountains. Everyone is happy to see Nian scared away. Go home and cook something to celebrate.
But at this time, people are afraid that Nian will come back again. Every household doesn't turn off the lights or sleep, and is always ready for another battle with Nian.
Nian never came back, and at the end of the second year, Nian didn't appear, so everyone was relieved. I think it's time to celebrate when I think of being suppressed by years and the hard work and tiredness of this year. So people kill chickens and sheep, cook with warm wine, eat a big meal at the table, and then play at home or by the bonfire at the village entrance. Since then, this custom has been preserved, and this day is called China New Year. Bian Xiao reminds me here that there are many legends about the origin of the New Year in China, and this is just one of them. If the legend you heard before is different from this, that's normal. The story is different, but the intention of the New Year is the same.
