What are the customs of the twelfth lunar month?

The custom of the twelfth lunar month is to sweep the house, invite incense, offer sacrifices to the stove, stamp, write Spring Festival couplets and do new year's goods. December is another name for the end of December. As far as wax is concerned, there are records of "Roufu" and "Willa" as early as Zhouyi and Zhouli.

The original meaning of wax is dried meat. There are many names at the end of December, and the most familiar one is the twelfth lunar month. This month's weather is most suitable for air-drying bacon, so it is called "twelfth lunar month".

La Worship tradition

December is another name for the end of December. In ancient times, there were many nicknames for the moon, and each nickname had a different meaning. At the end of the year1February, the weather is dry and suitable for bacon, so the end of the year1February has another name, such as twelfth month and winter. As the end of1February is in the transition period from the old to the new, it is a month with more sacrifices.

Because this month is called "twelfth lunar month", the sacrifices held in this month are called "La Worship". "Zuo Zhuan" contains: "The great event of a country lies in respecting peace and glory." It shows that sacrifice is very important in ancient times. As early as the pre-Qin period, some parts of China had the custom of offering sacrifices at the end of the twelfth lunar month, while La Worship aimed at offering sacrifices to ancestors and gods. Don't drink Laba porridge on this day.

Laba Festival, a popular Buddhist festival in La Worship at the end of the year, shares the word "La" in the name of the festival, but the connotation of the festival is different.
