Characteristics of Tang and Song Poems

The development of Tang poetry has roughly experienced four stages: early Tang, prosperous Tang, middle Tang and late Tang.

There are many forms of Tang poetry. However, classical poetry does not have five words and seven words, and modern poetry also has two kinds of quatrains and metrical poems. Quatrains and rhymes can't exceed five or seven words. Classical poetry requires extensive rhythm, while modern poetry requires strict rhythm. There is a limit to the number of poems. In every sentence, the words are flat and annoying, and the rhyme cannot be converted. Rhyme also requires four sentences in the middle.

Tang poetry represents the golden age of China's classical poetry. Its characteristics are as follows:

First, the quantity is large. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, the Complete Tang Poetry was compiled and more than 48,900 poems were collected. Books in the Tang Dynasty were mainly copied by hand. After eight centuries, there are still nearly 50 thousand works handed down from generation to generation, which shows that these works have withstood the test of the times.

Second, the author dabbles in a wide range. From emperors and princes, to vendors and pawns, to advocating Excellence through Buddhism, from old people, to children of several years old, to foreign authors. Among them, the album handed down from ancient times is 69 1 piece (statistics of Ming dynasty).

Third, the subject matter is diverse. Social and natural phenomena such as politics, economy, war, religion, court, bureaucracy, imperial examination, marriage, family, friendship, travel, homesickness, landscape, countryside, animals and plants are all written in Tang poems. As Wen Yiduo said: "Every word in life is written in the form of poetry, so nothing can be included in poetry."

Fourth, the system is complete. Yuefu, ancient poems (including five words, seven words, miscellaneous words and four words), quatrains and metrical poems all matured in the Tang Dynasty, and a large number of excellent works appeared. Some people write Chu Ci, and some poems give birth to the genre of "Ci".

5. Brilliant artistic achievements. Tang poetry has created many perfect artistic techniques and formed many styles and schools. Such as flowers in full bloom, colorful.

(A) Tang Poetry: China is a country of poetry. Poetry can be roughly divided into two categories: one is irregular poetry or archaic poetry, such as The Book of Songs and Songs of the South; The other is metrical poetry. In a poem, the levels and rhymes of each word, three or four sentences and five or six sentences should be opposed respectively. The economic development of the Tang Empire will inevitably bring about cultural prosperity. With the integration of all ethnic groups in China and the increasingly frequent international cultural exchanges, the life of all classes and strata has become rich and complicated, which provides a variety of newspapers and materials for poetry creation. The system of selecting talents and appointing talents in the imperial examination formulated and implemented by the Tang Empire was mainly composed of poems and fu, and this mechanism also directly promoted the creation of poems.

Characteristics of Tang poetry: Tang poetry follows the court style in form, official business and content, with different melodies in different periods, or passionate or sentimental, or heroic and affectionate.
