Is the hibiscus painting in water a meticulous flower-and-bird painting of Chinese painting?
Lotus Out of the Water is an ancient painting and fan painting by China, and the author is Wu Bing. Although the painting "Lotus Out of Water" is small, it is very exquisite and vivid, and it is hidden in the Palace Museum in Beijing. The painting is boneless, the pen is light, the color is soft, and there is almost no handwriting. Pink lotus flowers are particularly beautiful against the green lotus leaves, which is the best time for bud germination.
This painting depicts a water lotus, which is reddish with blooming, with green leaves below and three lotus stems below. The author depicts the natural graceful appearance and dirt removal characteristics of lotus from above. The strokes of the whole picture are exquisite, the colors are gorgeous, and there is no trace of pen and ink. There is no seal on the picture, and it is passed on as Wu Bingzuo, which is recorded in the Record of Paintings with Virtual Equivalents.
In the picture, red flowers and green leaves occupy the whole picture. This plump composition, like a portrait, enables us to appreciate this delicate and soft lotus flower intuitively. The delicate style shows the pure and noble character of the lotus flower, which does not stick to mud. It is a rare masterpiece in ancient flower-and-bird paintings in China.
Wu Bing's masterpiece:
Sleeping Duck in Spring Pool, Camellia Pigeon, Yuanyang Ruilian, Zhu Baoyu Butterfly, Broken Hearts, Broken Peony, Sketch Lotus (Lotus Out of Water), Rose, Changchun, Narcissus, Yu Meiren.
The works contained in "Preparation for Painting" have been handed down from generation to generation, including "Drawing Lotus from Sketch", which is now in the Palace Museum; The map of Yu Meiren is in Shanghai Museum. "Treasure Pearl and Jade Butterfly Map" is an overseas private collection. Xu Bangda's Chronology of Paintings Handed Down from Ancient Times also records Wu Bing's Autumn Birds and White-headed Trees in the fifth year of Qingyuan (1 199).
Gu Fu's "Spectacular Life" records a short book "Birds with Money", which should be the representative work of bamboo birds with money collected by Shanghai Museum. This work is a picture book, a silk book, colored, 25 cm in length and 25 cm in width, with the words "Wu Bing Painting" painted on the side.
