Is there a prospect for industrial control system DCS?

So far, the development of DCS has been quite mature and practical. Undoubtedly, it is still the mainstream of industrial automation system application and selection, and will not immediately quit the stage of field process control with the appearance of field bus technology.

According to the Report on Demand Forecast and Transformation and Upgrading of China Industrial Automatic Control System Equipment Manufacturing Industry, DCS will continue to develop along the following trends in the future:

(1) Development towards integration: The development of standardized data communication links and communication networks will make various industrial control devices such as single (multi-) loop regulators, PLC, industrial PC and NC form a large system to meet the requirements of factory automation and adapt to the general trend of opening up.

(2) Intelligent development: The development of database system and reasoning function, especially the application of knowledge base system (KBS) and expert system (ES), such as self-learning control, remote diagnosis and self-searching, artificial intelligence will be realized at all levels of DCS. Similar to FF field bus, intelligent devices based on microprocessor, such as intelligent I/O, PID controller, sensor, transmitter, actuator, man-machine interface, PLC, and so on, appear one after another.

(3) DCS industry based on PC: It has become a general trend that DCS is composed of IPC, and PC has become a common operating station or node machine of DCS. PC-PLC, PC-STD and PC-NC are pioneers of PC-DCS, and IPC has become the hardware platform of DCS.

(4) Specialization of DCS: In order to be more suitable for applications in various corresponding fields, it is necessary to further understand the process and application requirements of the corresponding professions, so as to gradually form DCS for nuclear power, substations, glass and cement.
