Is there anything worth visiting in Peitian Village, the "Folk Forbidden City" known as Hakka?

Peitian is not a big village. There are 100 families and dozens of old houses on the mountain. Because the houses are all made of wood, there are two canals running through the whole village. Because of this water, the village looks more and more aura. Surrounded by green hills and the charm of Jiangnan water town, this village is very pleasing to the eye.

At first glance, it's hard to think that this used to be a major traffic artery. In the past, Liancheng went to Changting's official road, and how many fast horses ran on this post road. The center of Peitian is called Ancient Street, which is the widest and most lively place in the village. This is a gravel path, about three meters wide and less than two meters narrow. On both sides are small shops, grocery stores, tofu shops, barbershops and pubs, all of which are villagers' own houses. The window facing the street is wider, with a white cloth cover hanging outside. The name of the store is written in traditional Chinese characters, and the business is booming.

It is sunny in Peitian during the Spring Festival. At about ten o'clock in the morning, the courtyard with blue bricks and black tiles was embraced by the warm sunshine. Occasionally, smoke rises in silence, villagers carrying burdens pass by, wooden doors creak and are blown by the wind, and cats and dogs of all sizes come out to meet them.

All the houses in the village are open, the yard is full of furniture and electrical appliances, and there are big log tables and chairs and tea sets in the hall. However, whoever passes by, whether it is an acquaintance neighbor in the village or a stranger, will be warmly invited by the host to sit down in the yard for tea. If it happens that the host is eating at home, add a pair of chopsticks and a bowl and invite the guests to eat together. Drinking is naturally indispensable. Rice wine is packed in a big ceramic bowl, and you can't refuse to drink it.

Passing by Jinshi, the host is a couple in their early sixties and two kind-hearted old people. As soon as they entered the yard, they were surprised at the cleanliness there. The old man showed us around the house. I heard that I was going to shoot the woodcarving flowers in the house, so my uncle quickly moved the clothes in front of the wooden wall to make room for me.

The houses in the village were not built at the same time. It took hundreds of years to become what it is today. However, the latecomers all built houses according to the style of their ancestors, so the planning of the whole village is quite good and it doesn't look chaotic. Wood carving, brick carving and stone carving are exquisite.

All the houses in the village face east and west, which is different from the habit of ordinary people sitting north and facing south. The villagers said that this was decided by their ancestors according to the local wind and climate, in order to maintain good ventilation and lighting. This is another major feature of Peitian dwellings.

Two canals crisscross the whole village and flow through every household. Villagers wash clothes, vegetables, faces, hands and farm tools. Another important use of this water is to put out fires. It turns out that Peitian's houses are all wooden structures, which are easy to catch fire. Smart cultivators will bring water home to solve future problems. Earlier, canals were introduced to every household, so that water could be used conveniently without leaving home.

Knee space? I'm afraid that the place where Peitian women studied women's morality was one of the few girls' schools at that time. Yanqing Hall, the ancestral temple in the village, and sacrificial activities are all held here, and there is a stage in the yard.

Jiugong Temple, the home of the third brother of the second generation of Peitian, has two very beautiful girls.

At that time, there were two pairs of beautiful stone lions, one left and one right, in the hometown of Wu Zhuangyuan. The lioness is still holding a little lion at her feet, which is the cleanest yard in the village. Unfortunately, there are no vacant rooms, otherwise we would spend the New Year there.

Hejing Mountain Villa, located in a big house on an ancient street, has exquisite brick carvings and couplets.

Jiv Hall, the largest house in the village, has as many as 108 rooms. It is said that the host's daughter-in-law set up more than 120 tables in the yard on her birthday.

Nanshan Academy is a primary school in the village. It is built on the mountain. There is a lotus pond at the door. The withered stems in winter hang on the water like a freehand brushwork. A two-story house next to it is the only hotel in the village? Nanshan inn.

Xinglong tofu shop is about 50 meters away from the entrance of the ancient street, and you can see eye-catching signs far away. The shopkeeper in a black leather skirt is busy in the shop. The big stove in the room is full of firewood, and the freshly ground soybean milk is boiled in the big iron pot on the stove. Several wooden doors on the counter are covered with white gauze, and the cooked soybean milk that has been cured and solidified is scooped into the wooden doors. The white yarn is tied and pressed. When the time comes, open the gauze and the white tofu will be ready. This is my favorite shop in Peitian Village. I stood there for a long time and didn't go away. The shopkeeper watched us take pictures of him and his shop while working. When he made eye contact with me, he smiled at me as if we were familiar friends.

In Peitian, besides tofu, there are two things that must be eaten, because the villagers all say that they are the specialty of Peitian, and the others are not authentic. The first is a kind of food made of rice. Soak rice in water and grind it into pulp, add grass ash and Sophora japonica bark powder, cook it with strong fire, and finally condense it into pieces. Peitian people call it rice jelly, which looks a bit like jelly. The jelly made of rice is yellow, but the colors made by different families are different, which is probably related to the amount of alkali added. The practice is to cut it into small pieces and fry it in the oil pan, and it must be accompanied by long onion festival. Yellow and green complement each other. The second kind is fried fruit. The difference is that sweet potato powder is added to the rice flour to make it softer. Each family is different in size and shape, and the amount of sweet potato powder added is also different. These two kinds of food are essential for Peitian people to celebrate the New Year.

Generally, the prepared rice jelly is put in a pot and cut when you want to eat it. You can bring some when visiting relatives and friends, and you should also bring a piece when burning incense in the temple. The fried fruit is crisp when it first comes out of the pot. When it's cold, you can get angry and steam. You can bring a bowl when you visit. You can try mine. I'll eat you. The villagers feel like a family.

It is the custom of Peitian people not to serve without wine. Rice wine and bowls for eating are indispensable on every dining table. Warm rice wine is packed in a tin pot, and the bowl in front of everyone is full. No matter in the morning or evening, regardless of porridge and rice, drink it first as usual. Those who have a good capacity for drinking will drink it immediately, and those who can drink it will take their time. But the important thing is that every bowl must be filled with wine every time, so the bowl of people who drink slowly is always full.

One year on New Year's Eve, a villager drank rice wine until the early hours of the morning, and finally he was drunk and unconscious. When he woke up, it was already the second day of the Lunar New Year. Rubbing his eyes, he looked at the person who told him the date and muttered, Why is there no New Year's Day this year? ? We heard the story at the New Year's Eve dinner. The wine became red, and an elder told the story. Everyone laughed and took the wine bowl more frequently. The rich and sweet taste of rice wine filled the dining hall, which filled everyone's heart with happiness and joy.
