Differences between traditional translation and modern translation
Old English differs from modern English in many features: vocabulary, spelling, grammar and pronunciation. Its grammar is closer to that of Germanic languages. Old English is richer in morphological diversity than modern English.
At the end of Roman rule in 4 10 AD, Germanic tribes (Angles, Saxons and Jutes) from present-day northern Germany began to settle in Britain, and their language later developed into Old English.
Linguists usually divide the history of English into three periods: old English, medieval English and modern English.
Old English nouns are declined according to case, sex and number. There are five main situations (nominative case, possessive case, dative case, accusative case and instrumental case), three genders (masculine, feminine and neuter) and two numbers (singular and plural). The grammatical gender of a noun does not necessarily correspond to the natural gender of the thing it refers to. For example, "wf" (woman) is neutral and "wf man" (woman) is masculine; Nouns referring to inanimate objects are usually masculine or feminine.
There are strong and weak nouns in old English. Like nouns, old English adjectives can be divided into strong and weak, pentatonic, even and triple.
There are only two tenses in old English, present and past.
