Three Classification of Carbon Emission Sources
The concept of "carbon" is very broad. Most objects around us, such as wood, plastic, rubber, fuel, coal, natural gas and diamonds, are made of carbonaceous materials. And all known creatures on the earth, including humans, are "carbon-based creatures".
It can be said that we live in a world made of carbon, and carbon is everywhere in our lives. Among them, carbon emission refers to the emission of all greenhouse gases, and "carbon neutrality" refers to reducing the greenhouse gases emitted in social development to zero by various means, so as to achieve "carbon emission ≤ carbon absorption".
Carbon emission is the general name or abbreviation of greenhouse gas emission. Carbon emission sources are divided into three categories: carbon dioxide released by energy (combustion), carbon dioxide released by other industrial production (non-combustion, such as carbon dioxide released by calcium carbonate in lime production), and carbon dioxide released by agriculture and other activities.
Precautionary measures for "carbon":
When we say "carbon" now, we actually mean greenhouse gases. The IPCC guideline IPCC 2006 gives the departments and categories of greenhouse gas emission sources, including energy, industrial processing and product use (IPPU), agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) and waste.
Each department contains several subcategories. For example, the energy sector includes two subcategories: fuel combustion and fuel escape emissions; Industrial process and product use (IPPU) includes mining, chemical industry, metal industry, electronic industry, other production, production of carbon halide and sulfur hexafluoride, consumption of carbon halide and sulfur hexafluoride and so on.
Agriculture, forestry and other land use sectors (AFOLU) include animal husbandry, land, accumulated sources on land, etc. The waste field includes solid waste landfill treatment, biological treatment, incineration and open-air combustion, wastewater treatment and so on.
