Origin of the surname Foshan Ruan

According to historical records, in ancient China, the Yue was an ethnic minority group distributed in the southern region, mainly living in today's Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Guangxi.

It is said that after the Qin Dynasty conquered the south in 207 B.C., the Yue people fled to the area of Guangdong in order to protect their ethnic traditions and culture, where they continued to live and reproduce. Over time, their descendants gradually developed a social system of identifying themselves by clan name, which included the surname Ruan.
