Ai Qing, born in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, on March 27, 1910, is a modern literary scholar and poet.In 1928, after graduating from high school, he was admitted to the National Hangzhou Xihu Academy of Fine Arts.In 1933, he first published a long poem, "The Dayan River - My Nanny," under a pen name.In 1932, he joined the Chinese Left-wing Artists' Union in In 1932, he joined the League of Chinese Left-Wing Artists in Shanghai and engaged in revolutionary literary activities. 1935, he published his first book of poems, "Dayan River".

In 1957, he was wrongly categorized as a rightist. He went to Heilongjiang and Xinjiang to live and work, and his creative work was interrupted for more than twenty years. 1979 after the vindication, he served as vice chairman of the Chinese Writers' Association and vice president of the International PEN Center, etc. In 1985, he was awarded the highest order of France's Order of Literature and Art. He died at 4:15 a.m. on May 5, 1996, at the age of 86, due to illness.
