What are the entities and engines of snmp?
SNMPv3 is the latest version of SNMP protocol and can work with all versions of SNMP. SNMP management station and agent are collectively called SNMP entities in SNMPv3. An SNMP entity consists of an SNMP engine and one or more SNMP applications.
The SNMP engine has a unique identifier snmpEngineID, which corresponds to SNMP entities one by one. The main functions of SNMP engine include: sending and receiving messages, authenticating and encrypting messages, and controlling access to managed objects. SNMP engine consists of four parts: scheduler, message processing system, security system and access control system.
