What are the Dai customs?

Dai customs include marriage customs, flower-eating customs, water-splashing festival, Dai dance, closing festival and so on.

1. Wedding custom: Most Dai weddings are group weddings, that is, group weddings. Men and women will exchange gifts before marriage, and the woman will receive the dowry from the man. On the wedding day, the bride and groom wore traditional Dai costumes and held a grand wedding, presided over by the elders of the clan, and the whole village participated in the celebration.

2. Flower-eating custom: There are more than 30 kinds of wild flowers, such as Panzhihua, Li Tang, azalea, yellow rice, beet, banana, bitter cold cabbage, Erythrina, broom, egg flower, bitter thorn flower, pentium flower and a kind of flower called "Mo Xie" in Dai language.

3. Water-splashing Festival: One of the traditional festivals of the Dai people, usually held during the Lunar New Year, similar to the Spring Festival in China. People will put on costumes, splash water on each other and send blessings and good luck. Water splashing is also an important ceremony for Dai people to welcome guests and worship their ancestors.

4. Dai Dance: Dai people have unique dance culture, such as peacock dance, Sophora flower dance, Buddha light dance, etc. Dance movements are graceful and stretching, and emotions are often expressed by gestures, eyes and body movements.

5. Closing date: The Dai language "Mwasa" is scheduled for September 15 of the Dai calendar (mid-July of Gregorian calendar). Kaimen Festival, called "Onvasa" in Dai language, is fixed on the day of 65438+February 65438+May (Gregorian calendar 65438+1mid-October).
