The "Kingdom of Narnia" in the stories is a mysterious and fantastic world. In these stories, the little protagonists enter the magical world of Narnia by various wonderful methods, such as a magic ring or a wardrobe door. They saved the people of Narnia by taking heroic risks and fighting with the devil and the witch. There are talking animals in the book: giants, centaurs, dragons, tree spirits, goblins and mermaids, etc., there are kind sheep monsters and dwarfs, and there is the great lion king Aslan. With their help, the little heroes defeated evil again and again through heroic adventures and battles, and defended this magical and joyful country.
The Legend of Narnia is a combination of myth, fairy tale and legend. Its story is based on the struggle between justice and evil, with profound implications, drama, tense plot, twists and turns, strange imagination and fascinating. The characters in the author's works are distinctive and lovable. The work also clearly outlines the fairy tale environment. This work is almost a well-known children's book in Britain and America, and it is also recognized by some critics, publishers and educators as one of the best children's books in the 2th century. In half a century, the book has sold 65,5 copies and has been translated into more than 3 foreign languages. The stories have not only been put on movies and TV screens, but also changed into children's plays and children's ballets, which have been performed for a long time in Britain and America. One episode of The Last Battle won the Carnegie Prize.
influenced by MacDonald and nesbitt, Lewis's works inherit the tradition of fantasy and adventure stories. Some of his imagination comes from some books he loved when he was a child: talking animals written by Beatrix potter; E. Nisbert; The evil queen in Hans christian anderson's fairy tales; Dwarfs in ancient German mythology; Irish fairy tales, myths and legends, and animals in ancient Greek myths and legends. Lewis combined them with his own Christian beliefs, thus turning them into a brand-new and creative story.
According to Lewis, The Legend of Narnia is a series of pictures that began in his mind. "At first," he wrote, "there were no stories, only some pictures. "The Lion King, the Witch and the Wardrobe" comes from such a picture: in the snow-covered forest, a little sheep monster rushes forward with an umbrella and a parcel on his back. "This picture," Lewis later recalled, "has been in my mind since I was sixteen. Then, one day, when I was forty years old, I said to myself,' Let me write a story about it …'
Lewis in the 194s was already a famous author, who wrote many serious works on literature and religion, but as a bachelor, he didn't know many children and never thought of writing books for them. During World War II, many children were evacuated from London to the countryside, and four of them were arranged in his home. To Lewis's surprise, the little guests didn't seem to have read any imaginative stories. So he decided to write one for them himself. In this way, he wrote the first few words of a story. The story is about four children: Ann, Martin, Ross and Peter. They are sent out of London to escape the air raid and live with an old professor who lives alone in the countryside.
He wrote so much at that time, but a few years later, he came back to write this story. The children (now called Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) found another world-he finally called it the Kingdom of Narnia. As Lewis said, more pictures came into his mind: one was "a queen sitting on a sleigh"; The other is "a magnificent lion". For a time, he didn't know what the story was about. "But then," he said later, "Aslan came suddenly ... I don't know where the lion came from or why it came. But once it was there, it brought out the whole story.
Everything was used to create The Legend of Narnia. An evacuated child asked him a fascinating question: Is there anything behind that old wardrobe at home? There are memories of his own childhood: he and his brother always got into the big closet made by his grandfather and sat in the dark telling stories to each other.
The Lion King, the Witch and the Wardrobe was published in 195, and was illustrated by a young artist, Baines, who well reproduced the picture in Lewis's mind. At that time, Lewis had begun to write more Narnia stories, telling how children found ways to return to Narnia again and again and experienced new adventures and adventures. In Prince Caspian (1951) and The Treader at Dawn (1952), Lewis wrote about the time difference between Narnia and our world-this technique means that there are something unusual and unexpected in every new story.
"When I finished the voyage of Dawn Treader," Lewis later recalled, "I was quite sure it would be the last one. But I found that I was wrong. "In 1953, he wrote The Silver Chair; In 1954, he wrote "The Speechful Horse and the Prince", which happened at the same time as "The Lion King, the Witch and the Wardrobe".
Every book will bring readers an unforgettable New Narnia character, such as Mr. Tumnus, reepicheep, the mouse general, troup King, the dwarf, and others who have come from our world, such as honest Dugrais, chivalrous Shasta, bold Jill Bohr, and annoying eustace who has become a dragon.
A lot of Christian ideas are also promoted in this work. Lewis created a lion symbolizing Christ in fairy tales, described the struggle between good and evil, and declared that as long as people are good, obedient and good, they can get eternal life. Aslan, the Great Lion King, plays an important role in every book: in The Magician's Nephew, it gave birth to the kingdom of Narnia; In The Lion King, the Witch and the Wardrobe, it defeated the evil white witch; In The Last Battle, Aslan put an end to the story of Narnia and led its loyal friends to a new world.
Lewis once said, "People don't write the books I want to read, so I have to write them myself. "In this way, he wrote a book that thousands of people wanted to read. The Legend of Narnia has attracted several generations of readers, both children and adults. Today, it has not lost its magic power to firmly grasp our imagination.
In October, 2, at the 52nd Frankfurt Book Fair, the world's largest book fair, The Legend of the Kingdom of Narnia spread throughout the exhibition hall, setting off waves of upsurge. Lewis's name was spread around, and many publishers from various countries flocked to the booth where Narnia was placed ...
Synopsis:
Digory, a boy and Polly, a girl in The Magician's Nephew, are adventurous. They mistakenly entered the laboratory of Uncle Digory Andrew, who is a poor and selfish magician. In order to test his magic, he used a magic ring to send Digory and Polly to a mysterious forest, which can lead to all the worlds. Through the magic of the ring, the two children arrived at a dying world-Charn City. Out of curiosity, Digory awakens the evil witch, Queen Janice. Witches used an extinction spell to turn the kingdom of Charn into a desolate city and exterminate all the living things there. She followed two children to London. Uncle Andrew trembled with fear in front of her and was willing to be her slave. In order not to let her continue to do evil in the city, the two children took her to another world. Uncle Andrew, the coachman and his old horse followed. In this world, they witnessed Aslan, the lion king, creating everything and establishing a brand-new country-the Kingdom of Narnia. Aslan appointed the coachman and his wife as the first king and queen of Narnia and turned his old horse into a flying horse. Digory was sent by Aslan, the lion king, to a distant garden to pick an apple-the fruit of life. There, Digory resisted the temptation of the witch Janice and brought back the fruit of life. Aslan planted apples on the border of Narnia to protect against witches. Digory got a fruit of life from this new apple tree, went home with Polly and cured his mother's illness.
The Lion King, the Witch and the Wardrobe pevensey's four brothers and sisters, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, were visiting an old professor's house and stumbled upon a magical magic kingdom hidden behind the wardrobe. The inhabitants here are the sheep monster, the beaver, the dwarf and the tree spirit ... But during Aslan's departure from Narnia, the country was occupied by an evil white witch. She oppressed the residents of Narnia and put them in eternal winter. The sheep monster once risked his life to save Lucy, and the beavers also helped their brother and sister escape from the white witch. Edmond was once tempted by the white witch Turkish fudge and once betrayed his brother and sister. Later, Aslan accompanied Santa Claus to Narnia and led everyone to defeat the witch. Four children became the king and queen of Narnia. Many years later, they accidentally went through the closet while hunting and returned to their own world as children.
The Talking Horse and the Child takes place during the reign of Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy. One day, the young Shasta found that he would be sold as a slave by his adoptive father to a vicious Kalemen nobleman. At night, he ran away with Marbury, the nobleman. Bree was a talking horse in Narnia. Shasta fled to Narnia with it. On the way, they met the noble girl Aravis and her talking mother Mahwin. Aravis fled out of dissatisfaction with the arranged marriage. So the four of them walked together. On the way, they went through a lot of hardships and learned that La Badache, Prince of Calormen, tried to raid the city of Anward in Achineland and then attack Narnia after his proposal to Queen Susan was rejected. With the help of Aslan, the lion king, they galloped to tell the news. Finally, Shasta saved Narnia and Achineland. After the victory, he found that he was Prince Achiland, formerly known as Keo, who was stolen by a traitor with ulterior motives since childhood and raised by a fisherman. He later inherited the throne of Achineland and married Aravis.
The story of Prince Caspian takes place one year after Peter and other four brothers and sisters returned to their own world. The four of them were sitting on the bench of the railway station waiting for the bus when they returned to school during the holiday, and suddenly they felt a special force pulling them into Narnia. They learned that hundreds of years had passed since they left Narnia. Miroz, the younger brother of the former king of Narnia, usurped the throne and killed his elder brother. Under his brutal rule, all talking animals and elves were hidden. However, Prince Caspian, the son of the old king, longed for the liberation of Narnia. He fled the palace and found the old residents of Narnia in the forest and got their support. The good and evil sides fought fiercely. When the prince was outnumbered, he blew Susan's magic horn and called Peter's four brothers and sisters back to this world to help them. They led the animals and elves in Narnia to defeat the evil king, Prince Caspian succeeded to the throne, and Narnia was full of vitality again. Peter's four brothers and sisters returned to their own world.
During the summer vacation, Edmund and Lucy lived at Uncle Harold's house and with their cousin eustace. Eustace is a nuisance. One day, an oil painting with a sailboat on the wall suddenly drew them into the painting. They met King Caspian on the boat, and he was sailing to find the knights who were expelled by his uncle. Another purpose of sailing is to find the kingdom of Aslan the lion. Along the way, they passed through various magical islands, such as lonely island, sound island, dark island and so on, and experienced all kinds of difficulties and dangers. During this adventure, eustace changed from a greedy, selfish and annoying bad boy to an honest and brave boy. They finally sailed to the outside of the end of the world and found Aslan's land, but except for reepicheep, the mouse, who stayed outside the king of Aslan, everyone else could only return to Lamandou Island. They lifted the magic, awakened three sleeping Sir Alex Ferguson, and finally returned to Narnia. Edmund and Lucy also went back to their aunt's house in Cambridge.
The Silver Chair eustace and Jill, a girl, were chased by a group of bad students, escaped into a small door leading to the wilderness, and unexpectedly found themselves in the land of Aslan. They accepted the task entrusted by Aslan to find the missing only son of King Caspian, Prince Ruilian. Ten years ago, the queen was killed by a green poisonous snake. Soon, the prince was lured away by a beautiful woman in green. In fact, this beautiful woman in green is a snake spirit, and she used magic to control Prince Ruilian. Prince Ruilian is awake for only one hour at night every day. But then the snake spirit tied him in a silver chair and controlled him with magic. Eustace and Jill and the swamp monster who helped them embarked on a dangerous search, but because Jill forgot Aslan's instructions, it added a lot of danger. Through the northern wasteland dominated by giants, they strayed into the man-eating Hafang Palace and came to the deep underground kingdom ... Finally, they rescued Prince Ruilian in the The Dark Castle, smashed the silver chair and resisted the magic of the snake essence, finally killed the snake essence, liberated many snake essence slaves-goblins, and returned to Narnia. Unfortunately, the old King Caspian died immediately after seeing the prince. Later, Aslan revived Caspian with a drop of his own blood and restored his youth and vitality. He lived in the kingdom of Aslan, while eustace and Jill returned to their schools.
In The Last Battle, an ape without a tail accidentally picked up a lion's fur and persuaded his friend, a simple mule, to put on the lion's skin and pretend to be Aslan to control the creatures in Narnia. In order to save the creatures in Narnia and expose the tricks of the ape, King Tilian became a prisoner of the ape and the Calormens. He called Aslan for help and called eustace and Jill. They rescued King Tilian and led loyal animals such as unicorns to fight against Kalemen troops, rebellious beasts and dwarves. But by this time, the cruel pagan god Tashi had come to Narnia. Eustace was captured, and when he was outnumbered, King Tirian hid in the stable, only to find seven kings and queens-Peter, Edmund, Lucy, eustace, Jill and Diggory and Polly, who were rejuvenated, standing in front of him as kings and queens. As the lion appeared, "time" woke up, the horn of the end of the world was sounded, and the night enveloped Narnia, and Narnia was finally destroyed. Aslan led all creatures who believed in him through a door and came to his kingdom. Aslan told Lucy that they had all died in the train accident. All the important things and lovely animals in old Narnia have entered the real Narnia through this door. All the people who have appeared in the past are here. From then on, they lived a happy life in new Narnia.
